Checkered Skirt and City with the longest name in Europe!

"Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" here you go, I wrote it. Don't ask me to pronouce!

Originally the town had a shorter, easier to pronounce name: Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. In the 1880s, in a joking attempt to attract tourists, a tailor added the rest of the syllables, bringing the total length to 58 letters, including four letter L's in a row. "What does Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch mean?" I asked the lady at the tourist information office. Well, OK, what I really said was "What does that thing you just said mean?" In English it translates to "St. Mary's Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio near the red cave."

If you ask nicely, the lady at the tourist information office will pronounce the name for you. "We get asked that about 30 times a day," she told me. Then, patiently, she took a deep breath and recited the correct pronunciation for the longest town name in Europe:

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Believe me, you can't repeat no matter how many times she says it for you.

There's not much to do in "Llanfair PG," as it is listed on most maps, other than buy the T-shirt (available at the tourism office), take pictures of the sign on the train station platform, and pester the tourism office lady to say it again. If you're so inclined you could stop in at the James Pringle Weavers shop, a souvenir superstore next to the train station that caters to big-bus tours — ask nicely and they'll stamp your passport with the village name. That's exactly what we did and here is a picture for you.

Coming back to the dress, I absolutely love any excuse to get dressed up and when you find the perfect outfit it makes it even more special. I saw this Zara skirt on the website last week and totally fell in love with it.

Checked pattern is back! The checkered pattern is one of THE trends this autumn (in fact I wear it every year as I believe it never goes out of style and is a staple) and if you choose to keep it fashionable & vintage, you have to wear it right. As we transition from summer to fall, this cute checkered number can be worn with mules, booties or over the knee boots (if the skirt is short) to help make the switch of seasons an easy one. Whenever I wear something like this it makes me feel very vintage, very Scottish and reminds me the number of times I have been to Scotland.

A checkered skirt is the perfect palette for pattern mixing. Try wearing it with plain turtlenecks, stripes or a different color plaid piece. Opt for a midi length or miniskirt both looks equally stunning. You can wear it through summer and winter months, don't forget to choose the appropriate fabric: thick or thin. All you need is to get inspired.

Here i am wearing skirt which has a belt that looks lovely, pairing it with black turtle neck and some booties. Completing the look with my all time favorite bag.
